Meeting with the Mugango Community Group (part of the Mara River Water User's Association) on riparian land they have conserved with the assistance of WWF.
This was a great preliminary study. The mugango group is one of the best performing. They have mapped their area, constructed two fish ponds and now they are in the process of pumping water to each household in their village
It was due to this meeting that I came to know of the "sagawait": a local tree that grows in the upper trans-boundary of the Mara river. According to the locals, it treats coughs and flu when it's back is chewed. The back ca be dried and stored for future use.
